Jio 5G Phone - Launch, specification

With the 44th Reliance Annual General Meeting (AGM) around the corner, there are a lot of expectations floating in the minds of tech analysts. Reliance has always wanted to up their standards and wanted people to experience the latest. The 5G fever has spread widely around the world and Jio does not want India to fall back. There are a few big launches that are said to be waiting for us on June 24, like the Reliance Jio 5G phone, a budget Laptop, and a Jio book. Here you will read about all the things that are spreading around the Internet about the Jio 5G phone.

Last year, Jio joined hands with Google to produce an affordable 5G smartphone for Indians, which would pull customers to use the fastest network in the nation. With the 5G testing taking place in some of the Indian states with the association of Jio, the company also wants their customers to own a smartphone that supports the technology.

Specs and Features on Jio 5G phone

Display

Coming across all the rumors and leaks that are reaching our ears, Jio has planned to release a 2.4 inch TFT display smartphone and not a feature phone. The display will have a resolution of 320 x 240 pixels

Price

The phone is intended to be purchasable for every Indian so its price will be under Rs. 5,000. The exact price is not yet officially announced or leaked through other sources so the phone can range anywhere between 3,000 to 5,000 Rupees.

Operating system.

The device is expected to run on a new custom OS designed by Google. Jio has wanted a separate Indian operating system for smartphones, hence it partnered with Google to develop one. This being a huge assumption, the smartphone at least will use the Android Go operating system.

Chipset.

The telecom giant has also partnered with Qualcomm, the chip manufacturing giant, to use the Snapdragon 480G chipset. This is the cheapest dual-core chipset that clocks 1 GHZ and could work with a 5G device anyway. With the budget in mind, this can be wise option for the company.

Camera.

When it comes to Camera, it is speculated that the Jio 5G phone will have a 2-Megapixel rear camera and a 0.2-megapixel selfie camera. This might not be a catchy spec but the clear purpose of the phone, as mentioned before, is to support 5G and not photography.

Battery.

Jio 5G phone will have a 2000mAH battery in it, which must work well when it blends with the hardware and software of the whole device.

RAM and storage.

The device is expected to have 512MB of RAM and an onboard storage of 4GB which can be expanded using Micro SD.

Other features.

This entry-level 5G smartphone is not expected to have top-end features but the device will definitely support apps like Facebook, YouTube, and WhatsApp. Other features will be normal and essential ones are anticipated. Connectivity features will definitely be seamless with WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, Volte, and many more.

With all this being said, the above mentioned qualities of the Jio 5G smartphones are just the predictions and leaks believed to be true. There are all possibilities that Jio might surprise us with unexpected features.

When is the Launch and Availability

Jio wanted to implement its plan as early as possible because the 5G testing and experiments are happening in all other competing telecom companies like Airtel, which has collaborated with TCS in a new 5G infrastructure project.

The June 24th event will be definitely addressing the Jio 5G phone launching but the phone is said to reach the market a little late. Though Jio and Google together are doing their best to put the 5G smartphone in the pockets of Indian consumers, the supply chain problems that have been created due to the pandemic will push the date of availability of the phone. Reports suggest that there will be limited quantities available first and a greater number of sets will be rolled out in the market later after the production heats up.

Jio is working hard in all ways to upgrade the tech space in the nation and the 5G network will be available soon to support all the devices that are being released in India with 5G support. The Jio 5G phone might not compete with the top-end models or brands but will definitely reach every Indian who wants to access 5G in a smartphone.
