Design & Display
Moto Edge 20 is the skinniest smartphone to have been released in recent times. It weighs just 163 grams and its dimensions are 6.42 x 2.99 x 0.28 inches. The phone is sleek and it feels great in hand with the aluminum frame that helps in holding. The front screen is safeguarded by Gorilla Glass 3. The back is made of plastic and its quality is quite decent for the price. The built quality is good overall and the phone has a water repellent design that can withstand harsh conditions. Although the old Moto models that had some rigid body are still the stronger ones.
This slim smartphone has a Full HD 6.7 inch OLED display that can emit more than a billion colors with HDR 10+. The resolution of the phone stands at 1080 x 2400 pixels with a 19.5:9 aspect ratio. The 89% screen to body ratio gives a stylish look and the screen well protected with the Corning Gorilla Glass. The 144hz Refresh rate is the fastest smartphone refresh rate ever produced by Moto. There were also few options to control the refresh rate of the smartphone.
Processor and OS
The Moto Edge 20 is a special smartphone when it comes to the processor department. The phone is powered by the octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G processor that enhances the performance of 5G. It combines with the 8GB RAM available on the phone to give a fluid scrolling and clicking experience while used. This phone runs on Android 11 stock.
Storage and Battery.
There are two options for the customers to choose from with respect to capacity. The first variant is the 128GB internal storage with 8GB RAM and the second is the one with an internal storage space of 256GB and 8GB RAM. There are possibilities of another variant being introduced with lesser RAM but we have to wait and watch for it.
The phone has a decent long-lasting battery that keeps the phone on for a day with around 7hrs of display on time. The capacity of the battery stands at 4000mAh and this can do the job to make the phone go through an average schedule. The 30W charger is fast and the time spent for charging has become less than before.
Alright, it’s time to look into the most important feature that everybody looks up to while purchasing a mobile phone. The Camera in Edge 20 is impressive. As we can see from the looks the phone has a triple camera setup which is very promising.
The main camera shooter is 108MP with a 30x Super Zoom feature that can be used to click some fabulous pics. The second camera lens is a 16MP one used for Ultrawide and Macro shots. When the Ultrawide mode is used the lens fits in 4x more into the frame, whereas the macro vision brings you 5x closer to your subject. The third lens is an 8MP telephoto camera that can shoot photos from 3x the distance, or capture details from long distances using 30x Super Zoom. Thought moto combined the best camera hardware, we feel some software optimization must be needed to enhance the performance of the camera.
The Selfie camera which is 32 MP always makes sure the user looks the best with a technology called Quad Pixel. Videos can be shot at 4K/30fps and this helps us make videos that look amazing.
The Moto Edge 20 has some quality features in the connectivity department. The options include Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/Yes, Bluetooth V5, NFC, GPS, USB Type-C, 3G, and 4G (with support for Band 40 used by some LTE networks in India). This phone uses the Ready For a platform which allows easy wireless connectivity to other devices like smart TVs and computer screens. The wi-fi calling feature is also a great addon.
What we missed?
Moto removed the 3.5mm headphone jack from this smartphone, which is a poor idea I think.
